What do you do?

I work in the Digital Mock-Up group, which is part of the Computer Aided Design/Engineering Data Management (CAD/EDM) area. My team works closely with the design engineers on truck design. My work involves gathering business requirements, translating them into system specifications, and coordinating the strategic directions with other departments in Germany.

What’s your favorite part of working here?

I enjoy working with creative people on product development and tackling challenges. It is exciting and gratifying to work with colleagues on a product, and then actually see the product on the road, knowing that you took part in developing it—that you were there from the very beginning when the concepts were still on paper.

How are you innovating?

In IT, we attempt to make other teams’ jobs easier by providing the right tools so they can focus on the creative aspects of their jobs. Currently, in order to provide a customer with a visual of a truck according to their customizations, someone would have to manually build it within the CAD system. In order to streamline this process, we are developing an automated system that dives into the huge amount of CAD data to virtually assemble each unique truck, thus, not only saving time but also providing more accurate virtual models. From this, we will have the capacity to generate photorealistic images for sales, assembly line instructional posters, and engineering studies in Virtual/Augmented Reality.

Why would you recommend Daimler Trucks North America?

The Daimler Group is a global leader in the automotive industry. We have great teams working together from many different countries with the same goal in mind—delivering safe, stylish, and high quality automobiles.

With technology moving so quickly, the environment has become very fast-paced. Along with that come opportunities for new ideas and development. At Daimler, you work with people from around the world with different skill sets and backgrounds. The exciting thing is you don’t know what’s coming next. If you want to go even further, you can continue your career overseas at one of our international locations.

What do you do outside of work?

I love music, travelling, and playing the piano. I also enjoy good food and am working on my cooking skills. One of my other interests is photography, so I try to combine that with my love for travel. Sometimes I’ll cruise around in my car and explore different places, taking pictures along the way. I also go see friends in Washington State, where I can eat my favorite noodle soup Tokyo Ramen, drink orange smoothies, and fly my parrot kite at the park.
