Years with the company: 14.
What do you do?
My group handles the financial side of any new product. We control the budget, see how we get the money to get to market, set cost targets then see if we made more or less money than the previous models. We track guidelines to ensure we're on budget, then to know whether we're targeted to turn a profit at the end of the day.
What's your favorite part of working here?
I get to work on and learn about the products and projects that are not yet implemented. We can see what technologies will be coming in the future. We see some really cool technologies—alternative fuels like natural gas, our emphasis on fuel efficiency, regulatory projects. It's nice to see the new looks of the trucks before others.
How are you innovating?
We're a very small, six-person team. We're constantly looking for ways to improve standardization of our templates and reports. Many of our reports go to higher level committees, so we standardize them to make sure the people who are looking at them can comprehend them. We've made it so they look the same, but with different data.
Why would you recommend Daimler Trucks North America?
Daimler Trucks North America is a great place to work. As part of a global company, the opportunities are limitless. You can come to Daimler Trucks North America to work for a specific group and have the opportunity to change jobs within the same location, or go national or international. In bad times, being a globally diversified company helps keep things stable.
What do you do outside of work?
I have two daughters—5 years old and 18 months—so I spend a lot of time with family. I'm a big sports fan. I play soccer and watch sports on T.V.
Who do you root for?
Locally, the Portland Trailblazers, nationally, I follow the New York Yankees. I'm trying to motivate myself to be a Portland Timbers fan; we'll see.
