In 2004, Daimler Trucks North America LLC opened an advanced wind tunnel testing facility nears its headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Over the coming years, the company will use data and experience from the wind tunnel testing to refine the aerodynamics on its trucks with the overall objective of reducing fuel consumption and emissions. New heavy-duty vehicle diesel engines installed in Daimler Trucks North America LLC vehicles include systems designed to reduce emission of nitrous oxide and particulate matter. In addition, the company has explored advanced concepts like fuel cell auxiliary power units. Already, Daimler Trucks North America LLC products offer engines powered by alternative fuels.
